At the start of last week, we had a respite from the rain. There was sun! There was warmth! There was a pause in the rise of the lake level! There was mowing. There was less excitement over that last item than the preceding ones. At the end of the week, the weather got all drippy again.

Before the sky got all weepy, the area began to sprout. The first to flower were the Trout Lilies

These guys popped around the same time as the yellow ones.

Near the end of the week, the trillium started to bloom. The forest floor is currently covered with them.

The trees continued to march from gray to green. In another week or so we'll be at full leaf.

Lawns got longer and the yard ducks seemed to like it.

Humming birds were spotted buzzing around the pines and decks all week before the rain.

While some jumped in with enthusiasm, the 50°F water is still a bit too cold for us.

Saturday's bar night featured fresh baked bread, soup, and a fancy pants tiki drink.

Last week ended in a deluge of rain. The over 3 inches should push the lake level up close to the yard mark over the nail. Many of the Great Lakes are also at record highs, so this water abundance seems to be more than a localized phenomenon. Historically, the lake level peaks near the end of June. Let's hope for an early receding of the water before docks become targets on which to SCUBA dive and cabins are swallowed up whole.
