Summer With Fall Flair

September 10th through 16th, 2018

Lake Lucerne
It still feels like Summer. Many days last week were sunny with highs near 80°F. It felt a little less Summery around the edges. During a few of the mornings, the air dipped to around 40°F and produced patchy ground fog as lakes steamed off their heat.

The water temperature is close to 75°F. There were swimmers, divers, skiers, and footers.

During one such ski run, we were reacquainted with our favorite navigational aid on the lake's shore.

It's mushroom season! Some are small and were at first mistaken for bits of plastic.

Most are larger and almost all are inedible.

Fall grasses, weeds, and flowers are peaking.

The trees are at about 25% peak, but a few are further along.

Last Saturday, the Art in the Square event spilled out onto the courthouse grounds.

The art and the weather combined to make for a very well attended festival.

There are reports that the fishing remains good. While diving the North end, we spotted quite a few large bass and swarms of bluegill. They all seemed pretty active. We're not sure how much longer this bonus Summer period will continue. Instead of fretting about its inevitable end, it's best just to enjoy it while it lasts.
