As time swam through the northwoods last week, it left in its wake leafless trees, cooler water, and a little rain. This was not completely unexpected for this time of year.
The rain was not enough to hold onto the record levels Lake Lucerne had reached just a few weeks ago. It may be down a bit, but 21 inches above the nail is still disturbingly high for this time of year.
If forecasts are to be believed, Winter will be sniffing around soon. It was rain last weekend, but there's snow in the augury for this week. Snow. It's great for bringing out the holiday spirit in December, but snow in October makes for a long Winter. The prediction of the white stuff has panicked and motivated the code monkeys. Watch for the Ice-in contest soon.
