Ennui Week

August 7th through 13th, 2017

Lake Lucerne
Last week reflected this Summer's age. The air was cooler, the lake temperature was off peak, and the sun wasn't up as long. Even so, most are currently hat-less, you can sorta get used to the water, and there's still plenty of sunlight. Life remains good!
Lake Lucerne
Less than 2 weeks ago the water temperature of Lake Lucerne peaked at 82°F. Swimming was comfortable, falling while skiing could be painful but without the added unpleasantness of hypothermia. Last week the lake temp fell down to a more Lucerne-ish 74°F. Not freezing, but not 82°F either.

The water level of Lucerne is also dropping. It went below 21 inches above the nail, then a +1 inch rain event late last week pushed it back up.
Lake Lucerne
Much of last week was dotted with plenty of sun. More then enough to get your tan on and to ward off torpor.

The weekly Wednesday ski show at Water's Edge contines to entertain the masses that gather on the shoreline at 6:30 PM. Only two more left.

The FOOTSTOCK dock was removed from Lake Lucerne, trailered, and assembled on Lake Peshtigo just North of Crandon. Footstock, the largest barefoot contest of its type in the country, starts next Saturday.

A survey mission for a friend had the UAV flying around the islands late in the week.

We still need a foot or more of lake to submerge the state owned islands on the South end.

This year's bean crop is coming in! There was a small celebration.
Lake Lucerne
There was a larger celebration at the bar on Saturday. It was noted that more than one Perseid occasionally flashed across the sky.

In addition to the calendar, accumulated aches and pains are strong evidence that we are in the final weeks of Summer. With the clock ticking, there is no time for the men to convalesce. Injuries are covered over with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories and exhaustion is drown out with energy drinks. The resulting cramping and twitching gets transmitted down the line resulting in a more effective presentation of artificial baits.
