Juicy

July 10th through 16th, 2017

There was sun, stars, and golf between the fall of drops, but last week was extremely juicy. It was not overly windy though. The largest sky juicing occurred Saturday. The entire weather event was over in about a half an hour. The drops were huge and the lake went up 1.1 inches not including the watershed upping. Monday's ski show included lots of sun and all 21 planned acts. Wednesday's ski show was a race to finish before the storm. The show ended early when the powers that be determined that the boats and skiers did not need a power washing. Much of the crowd fled the storm. A few braver, moister types embraced it. It ended in 12 minutes leaving only a rainbow, a higher lake, moister campers, and a dripping sound. The lake is still going up. Many docks have been classified as a "Wet Sneaker Zone" when boat waves are added. The rising water has filled the back bays on the South end of the lake to levels not seen since the 1970's. Huzzah! We didn't determine if Devils Lake, just over the green hill to the east, is up much or not. Our guess would be up. Lakes Wabikon, Riley, and Wyman are still there, too. The fishing on the North end of the lake was good, the swallowing took some time though. The bar's bird feeder ran out of seed earlier in the week. This caused major consternation among birds both feathered and furry. Black sunflower seeds and calm returned to the area shortly after. Last week was not just bracketed by storms, but also had rain in the middle. Roofs were made damper and the lake 2.5 inches deeper. If the lake continues to rise at this rate, next Spring's lake ice will be scouring docks, fire pits, and a few cabins from the shore. Our advice would be to enjoy seeing the islands now before they become just other bottom features.

-Nemo didn't ski between the buoys.
