The Fourth and Flyover Week

July 3rd through 9th, 2017

Lake Lucerne
The week that included the Fourth of July brought with it warm, sun, fireworks, and an inordinate amount of boat traffic. The monsoon like rains that have thus far defined this Summer were largely absent. That's fine. The consensus is that the lake is high enough.
Lake Lucerne
The lake water is hovering around the good side of 70°F and seems to be poised to jump up. Swimming and diving involves more frolicking and breath holding and less shivering.
Lake Lucerne
No, Mrs Nemo did not prune herself small by spending too much time in the water. It's just a big chair.
Lake Lucerne
Fireworks lit up the shore and echoed off the hills around the lake during many of the nights last week.
Lake Lucerne
There were campfires, too. Some were made more fun/blue by adding metal.

Fishing on the North end of the lake seems good.
Lake Lucerne
We like it best when angling includes a fishy flyby.
Lake Lucerne
We prefer our fish cooked, others seem to like 'em raw while 50 feet up in a white pine.

If there's any evidence that it's possible for a Summer to be too good, last week would be Exhibit A. Warm aired, flat watered, and short nighted make for maximum fun and exhaustion. The sky being all eagle-y is just the cherry on top. If you're coming up soon, in addition to drums of bug spray, pack plenty of Ibuprofen and energy drinks.
