Land of the Blue Sky Waters

June 19th through 25th
Last week, like the week before, was bracketed by rain with some more rain in between the brackets. And the lake level continues to rise. The start of last week's rain, we'll call it bracket one, dumped almost an inch of the wet stuff into the lake and a cool pallor on to the air. It's needlessly redundant to say that the inflows are heavy with runoff, but we'll say it anyway. The inflows are heavy with runoff. The bar's rain gauge was emptied on Thursday. By Sunday, this happened. The pier with the lake level measurement nail on it is going under. It looks like the water level of Lake Lucerne is about 2 feet above the nail. We'll get an official measurement this week. Last Wednesday, it stopped raining and the sun came out for the ski show. The show flowed well and almost all the acts were well executed. The crowd was pretty good for this time of year. It'll fill out more as June flows into July. From the pre-show to the final pyramid, the solstice sun made picture taking all the better. Through the rain drops, the North end of the lake was fished/hunted. The strange, furred bird was not eaten by eagle last week due, perhaps, to the way its natural camouflage blends into the bird feeder. Having lived through the ten year drought, the rain last week was not entirely booed. On the other hand, the season's air temperature performance did attract a few cat calls. Highs in the 60's and lows in the 40's (℉) have local milk cartons featuring pictures of July and August's calendars with the caption "Have you seen these months?". Past years without a Summer started off with a week or two of unusually warm weather followed by Fall. The trend thus far for Summer 2017 is disturbing, but at least the lake is going up.

-Nemo still believes that bird ain't right.
