Except for the 7 o'clock sunsets, last week had an early June feel to it. The sun, when it was out, was warm, the water temperature was just above 70 F, and there was rain.

There wasn't just rain last week. There was a lot of rain last week. The storms trained over the lake for hours.

When the sun finally came out, Lake Lucerne was 2.4 inches deeper.

Some piers are feeling the wet more than others. We think the benches will keep this one from floating away after the next batch of rain.

Local lawns continue to require weekly cutting. Monsoon-y green is a much better grass color than the drought-y brown of past Falls.

There were no power outages last week despite the pileated's best efforts.

The task of mixing the rain and the lake water using skis, kneeboards, and feet was made easier by the flatness that covered Lucerne's surface late last week. It blended well, but will require more mingling before the ski boats are pulled.

The big event on the weekend, specifically Saturday, was "Art In The Square". It was held, as always, on the park in front of Crandon's courthouse.

It was well attended. There was plenty of art and stuff.

By the calendar, last week was the final full week of Summer. Boo! Hiss! Autumn is not without its charm, but Summer, in our opinion, is the gold medal winner of the four seasons. If the water stays flat and warm-ish, the lake continues to rise, and no one gets hurt pulling lifts, this Fall could beat Spring for the silver.
