A Little Cooler

July 4th through 10th, 2016

Lake Lucerne
As the title of this summary page intimates, the shoreline of Lake Lucerne was a little cooler last week. The lake water finished the week a bit cooler, too. That is not to say put away the lawn mowers, break out the parkas, and post the ice-in contest. No. It may have been a bit cooler last week, but it was still pretty darn nice.
Lake Lucerne
The lake got some rain in several small precipitation events. The largest of which (pictured) was about a third of an inch. All together a little over a half an inch hit the ground. Good but the sky will have to do better than that to get the lake level over the nail.

The weather has not been kind to local home improvement projects. Despite the soggy, some progress was made last week.

The tree had stopped a Cadillac that rammed it at 80 MPH, but it was no match for a Mustang. The last task for the "Iron Elm" will be to help boil down next year's maple sap.
Lake Lucerne
Perhaps due to the rain or maybe the time of the year, the area around the lake has been exploding with flowering plants.
Lake Lucerne
If the rain and warm continue, expect colors for the next several months.

For the first time ever, take off of the drone was postponed due to surprise weather.

The aircraft grounding shower eventually moved South. We went up and got a picture as the squall put out campfires in the Southeastern corner of the lake.
Lake Lucerne
In between the drops, there was skiing.

On Monday and Wednesday in front of Water's Edge there was more skiing.

The shows and the crowds have been great.
Lake Lucerne
After the show, we popped up to see over "Charlie's Peninsula" to check if the islands were still there. They were.
Lake Lucerne
The cooler temperatures of last week made lawn mowing and garden weeding much less sweaty tasks. The heat is predicted to reappear this week along with chances of storms most every day. If the storms occur after dark, gotta get me some lightning over the lake pictures.
