June 27th through July 3rd, 2016

Perfect does not describe last week. It was better than that. It was warm without being too hot, the lake's tendency to smurf-up swimmers was low, there were bar nights, parades, birdies on the golf course and eagles in the sky. In short, it was better than perfect. Sunsets were beyond perfect, too. In addition to the mosaic painted across the sky with clouds and light, it was warm, very still on some nights, and just after sunset was dotted with firefly light. There was a bit of blue. Whether that touch of smurfism was a painted on acrylic tribute to the the blue swimmers and skiers from earlier in the season or an actual touch of the smurf from diving below Lake Lucerne's thermocline we don't know. A gentleman never asks. The "Let's Bug the Eagle" formation was spotted many times as Eagles fished the North end of the lake and red wing black birds took offense. By contrast, the eagle and the drone shared the sky without either one bugging the other. The bar was opened a few times last week. Drinks included beer, the flaming Bailey's Comet, and the tasty Alien Secretion (served six at a time because we only have six of the special glasses). The ski show at Water's Edge is hitting its stride. There are shows every Monday and Wednesday in July. You are expected to attend at least three. Bonus points will be awarded if you attend all eight! Ski show crowds are getting bigger, but there's still plenty of room for a few more. There was such an abundance of doings last week that it's close to impossible to condense it all into a slide show. With so much going on, many images were just lived and not captured. Those items include Crandon's 4th of July parade and fireworks, Bar Rail Bowling drama, collapsing final pyramids, amazing star displays, and of course chipmunks.

-Nemo, not a trace of smurfitude on any toe all week.
