Another Dam Update

Next »

May 2nd through 8th, 2016

Last week, it got warm. Well...it was hot for one day (Friday), but that's more than any other week this year can boast. The Lake is way up this Spring, but the body of water off the extreme southwestern corner of Lake Lucerne is still pretty low. The low water on lake Mead has exposed a few artifacts that were once covered by more water than we'd like to dive. Not sure what it is, but it's pretty cool. The dam is impressive. When you get past the size of the thing, it's the Art Deco style on all the little things that continue to amaze. The Tillman bridge is almost as impressive as the dam. Our favorite is the spiral staircase inside the iron-works of a heavy lift crane. Unlike Lake Lucerne, Lake Mead has not recovered. We ended up getting chased back to the strip by an intense thunderstorm. The NCC golf course is open. It has been for about a month now. So is the range in the extreme southwestern corner of the lake. Closer to the lake shore, the trillium are coming up! First, thanks to Lex for all this week's Lake pictures! Second, it's getting warmer. The water might be ski-able by the sane just after Memorial day. Maybe. It might be wise to bring a wet or dry suit if you insist on late May water play.

-Nemo's not planning any more dam updates this year.
