Rising Water

April 25th through May 1st
To say last week was Summer like would be a stretch. The air was too cool. Lake Lucerne was too cold. On the other hand, to say the lake was rising last week would be spot on. Judging from the in-flows, the lake will continue to rise. Yay! The plan was to hold the annual Knottlane board meeting and pool party in the extreme southeastern corner of the lake during the gray period between ice-out and Memorial Day. The plan was to float around the pool sipping a well crafted cocktail while watching the rain hit the lake on the webcam. That was the plan. Man plans, God laughs. There's been thunder, lightning, and sheets of rain. This has been the second wettest April for Las Vegas since records were kept. Eventually the sky cleared and the temperature rose. All the rain seems to have produced a bumper crop of Grumman this Spring. So would you pair that with a Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill or Wild Raspberry? By week's end on the shore of the lake, some lifts were touching the water without any help from the studio audience. On the North end of the lake, there were signs of a wild turkey beach party. The lake level continues to rise! Huzzah! It might be over the nail for the first time in over a decade. In addition to the rising water, there's rumors of golf and preliminary fire wood cutting for next year's maple syrup season. We did not get an image of Knott Lane this week, but we can safely assume that the snow remains gone and it's back in gravelly Summer form.

-Nemo, ever the wine connoisseur, went with the Strawberry Hill
