Last week started off as a typical early Spring week. It was sunny, cool/warm, and the lake ice was melting.
Rain remnants, in addition to melting ice and snow, are keeping the flows into the lake filled.
There's still ice on Lake Lucerne, but the signs that this is going to change soon are all there. Ducks were spotted, Lake Wabikon is ice free, there is talk of ending the tapping season in a week or so, and members of the College of Loons have been spotted buying sake and mulling around the shoreline. The weekend cold front brought yet another fine crop of Wisconsin Coconuts for the sugarists to deal with and may have pushed ice-out back a few days, but it'll come.
