Summer Quadruple Bonus Period With Cheese And Sprinkles
September 22nd through 28th

Last week, Summer continued its calendar defying run at a cooler, early June style pace.

Early in the week, a horde of guys using trucks that resembled 70's carnival rides, switched the bar to underground power lines. The now purely ornamental power poles were not plucked. Maybe next week?

Peak color weekend should be right around the corner. Some plants are on schedule. There are currently some good reds.

And some great oranges...

Then there are a bunch of these guys. It's still pretty green out there.

To get a better feel for the colors, we sent the camera-on-a-copter up late last week.

We'd estimate color at maybe ten percent.

Lawn mowing is currently at one hundred percent. With the mornings' heavy dew and the warmish days, you can almost hear the grass growing. While listening to that grow, some will celebrate the extended Summer with a cigar. Others may have a beer. Still others might take in a bonus ski run.
Then there are those that do all three at the same time.

The procedure for opening a twist off bottle while skiing has been refined over the years. Hold onto the tow rope with one hand. Hold onto the beer bottle with the second hand. Use your third hand to twist off the cap. Enjoy!

Complete success of a hot beer-ski (beer and lit cigar (20 points)) is attained if the beer is empty and the cigar is still lit after the run.

Just a late September plain old ski run is nice, too.

The lake temperature was pushing 72 F by the end of last week, but it seems like a fragile thing. Just a few cold morings will send that temperature autumnbling down into the 60s... or worse. Best to get your hot beer ski in sooner rather than later. The green in the trees seems tenuous, as well. It will be interesting to see how much of that green remains after the next week or so.
