Cool Water

The lake cooled off this week. The pure, clear water of Lake Lucerne lost 6 degrees Fahrenheit overnight. As a result of this heat loss, diving, swimming, skiing, and any other water activities that require immersion have become more refreshing.

Rain! We got us some! All together, the lake area got about an inch of the wet stuff over the course of the week. Lake Lucerne is currently about two feet lower than normal, but with this week's drops and more forecast for next week, we expect to be able to get boats off lifts for the rest of the season.

The knottlane bucket list grew this week. Due to the lake's very clear water, the drone can capture an image of the lake's bottom in water as deep as 20 feet. It could take a few years, but an entire lake bottom survey is currently in the planning stages.

There are two more water shows scheduled this year and we think one of them will be rained out. If you are free at 6:30 PM on the remaining Wednesdays in August, and it's not raining, be at Water's Edge to see one of the lake's more sparkly jewels.

Along with the water, the air was cooler this week. Those two marks in the "Boo!" column of Summer were offset by the blue sky, mostly flat water, and some rain that helped preserve the gains in lake level we've made this year. Yay! Flyers for this year's Knott Lane Open golf event (August 31st starting at 1:00 PM at the NCC, after party at the bar starting at around 5:00 PM) were written and printed (thanks Mrs Nemo!) and should be distributed next week.
