The course of true Summer never did run smooth. The lake was rough much of the week and the windy days were a bit cool for our liking. Sunsets and the area in general, however, were much to our liking.

It rained! Twice! We had about a half an inch early in the week and almost an inch later in the week. Very much to our liking. Huzzah!

During one of the more rare calm times on the lake, an uncommon gathering of Northern Kayakers (Minimus Boatius) were observed on the north end of the lake. Normally these quiet, colorful, paddle artisans are only seen singlely or in mated pairs. Local lore on the cause of the this type of converance ranges from pending parties to the recall of local mayors.

A very large eagle has been hunting the north end of the lake as of late. I've been scolded by Mrs Nemo after reporting the count of ducklings or kayakers. She understands the need for a preditor to eat, but would rather not know the toll on the regional cuteness or paddle clutching.

Merry and tragical! Tedious and brief! This season has been a mixture of disappointment and euphoria. Thus far, Summer 2014 has been made of drought and monsoon, almost frosty and hot, calm and blustery, birdie and triple bogey. Summer is a knavish lad, Thus to make poor Nemo mad. Going forward, of the may faces of the solstice, we are hoping to see more of the sunny, hot, calm days and thunderous, rainy nights. A few more degrees of lake temperature (currently the lake is about 72℉) wouldn't hurt either.
