Days of Shrinking Piers and Crouching Docks
June 3rd through June 9th

The lake continues to go up. Left on their own, docks and piers have a choice to sink, swim or go down with the shore. It's nice to have freedom of choice.

Early last week, we had a rainbow. All the visible colors of the spectrum were equally displayed. When the sky is clear and the sun is up, this is not the case. Red is being brushed aside by green and blue. That's fine with us.

Rain! We got a bunch! The lake went up another few inches. Piers and docks will have to be repositioned if we get but a smidgen more.

The lake temperature on the north end was unstable. We hit a high of 74 F early in the week. Then winds from the North pushed the warmer water to the South end and cooler water began welling up on the North shore. The water temperature dropped to 70 F (seen here), then 68 F, then 62 F. By Sunday we recovered some, but it's still pretty cold.

The lake was extremely ski-able most of the week. The first ski show is Wednesday, June 11th, at Water's Edge.

It was noted that some ski better than others. In my defense, shut up.

Mosquito eaters are coming online. They have one of the most plentiful buffets of buzzing blood suckers ever. We encourage them to forget about their waistlines and have seconds and thirds.

Did you ever get that feeling you're being watched? It looked like he was trying to use a jedi chipmonk mind control trick to get me to bring him some peanuts or droids or something.

Depending on the performer's height, the ski show on Wednesday will appear to be populated by Smurfs or Na'vi (the tall blue guys from Avatar. Obscure cultural references: your guide to quality web pages.) They will start off with a normal skin hue, but the water temperature will have them bluing up nicely by show's end. The cool water is not slowing the fish. They are still green and biting. With each passing warm day, the water temperature should go up. That'll help skiers and swimmers to retain a more normal skin color. Until then, blue is the new pink.
