It's been very unwarm this week. According to the ancient Greeks, winter is caused by Persephone's affinity for pomegranate seeds while abducted. These two items have forced us to update The List. Let's review The List so far:
1) Basement Badgers
2) Roof Wrecking Raccoons
3) Maple Tree Eating Porcupines
4) All Squirrels
5) Punxsutawney Phil
6) Persephone and Pomegranates
Roof-alanche! Briefly, very briefly, the temperature went above freezing this week. Then it went all sub-zero again. During the brief, very brief, time we saw +272.15 K, metal roofs deposited loads of snow onto the ground. This snow should be mostly gone by June. Mostly.
It's currently about 247 K on the lake. The boiling point of propane is 231 K. If the temperature drops just a bit more, any propane shortage will be moot and the call for WPS to pipe natural gas (boiling point 109 K) around the lake will grow louder. Polar Vortex, Punxsutawney Phil, or Persephone and Pomegranates, whatever the reason, this winter has become obnoxious and has overstayed its welcome. There is hope. The forecast calls for another week of deep Winter and then warmer with snow. That's tree tapping weather mister! There's currently 27 inches of snow in the woods. Gallant will wear snowshoes when tapping trees. Goofus will get snow on his chin.
-Nemo used to kinda like pomegranates
