Mildly Summer
August 6th through 12th
There's more water in the lake!  Over two inches of rain fell early last week.  By the end of the week, creeks and streams flowing into Lake Lucerne had all but dried up again.  This was a very good week rain-wise but we need more sky water.
The season resembles a chimera type beast.  The water temperature (72℉) suggests it's mid June.  When the sun is out, it tastes like July.   After the sun sets, it feels like early Fall.  As long as the lake is flat and there's gas in the boat, I guess it really doesn't matter.
The winds have been light.  The skiing, kneeboarding, and footing have been plentiful.
Note that if you are seeing the raft in a webcam image or in the first photo on this page, there are almost always fish under the pontoons.
The O'Keefe triathlon was held during one of the nicer mornings this year.  I forget who won, but nobody died.
The celebrations at bar night started with a puppy and ended around midnight.
I had a hard time deciding which image of the lake to end with.  This one is good.  I like the reflected cloud and it was taken in the evening thus having a metaphorical tie to the ending summer.
This picture has a bluer sky between white, puffy August clouds, sunlight dancing on the lake,  and that raft with the fish under the pontoons thus tying the end of the summary to the beginning.  I'll let you know which I went with when I figure it out.  I really like the sun dancing on the water and the tying it all together aspect in this second picture but the metaphor thingy is a lot of fun.  An image of some of the changing trees wasn't included in this week's update somewhat because of the strong sense of denial this site has toward the ending of Summer but mostly because we did not take a picture of the red and gold leaves in a few of the trees going into town.  I'll get the picture next week for sure.  Posting it will take a bit of therapy to get over the whole denying the end of Summer thing.
