Rough Water Week
July 9th through 15th
The week began like the week before.  It rained.  There was a good sunset and then it rained again.
The storms totaled almost 2.7 inches!  The lake continues to go up!  Huzzah!
One of our favorite runs is where two or more guys ski on canoe paddles.  The skier that makes it the farthest gets to wear the "Captain's hat" the next show and the other must answer to the name of Gilligan or something.  There was a bit of controversy this run in that the hatted guy went further by holding on to his rope but was not on the paddle anymore.  Gilligan fell just after this picture but stayed on the paddle until he bounced.  Either way it's still a great act if you like to see skiers bounce on the water.
The lake was angry during the Wednesday ski show.  Some of the acts laughed and taunted the rough lake.  Other acts bounced on the lake before coming to a stop.  They didn't laugh so much.
All the other runs were good.  It looked for a moment that a wakeboard guy was going to actually make a barrel roll in front of the stands.  The crowd held their breath as he twisted.  Would he make it?
No.
There was a big doings on Knott Lane later in the week.  After a sorrowful septic tank collapse, a holding tank was called for.  First, a giant hole was dug
Then a big concrete heaviness was lowered into the hole.  After that it got boring, so we left.
The days have been good, too.  The lake has been a little rough but it's going up and there's lots of sun.
The hot weather has brought with it some good sunsets but that could just be the gin talking.
Fish are active.  Diving near a crib is a little like reef diving.
It was noted that you have to get more than a few feet below the surface of Lake Lucerne to escape the sun.  It's not recommended to stay down more than a minute or two without tanks because of the whole breathing thing.
Summer is killing us.  The sting of great weather combined with the lake is forcing bodies that could be more toned to push more than is prudent.  The result is that we're painfully shrinking under our tans.  Plus, we're running low on ibuprofen and energy drinks.  Ah well, "Pig in the Pines" is just a few weeks away.  That'll put a tasty end to this bothersome weight loss and unnatural fitability of older clothes.  The fishing seems good but we've been bouncing around too much to actually drop a line in the lake.  More rain, much more rain, is forecast for later this week.  Looks like we'll all have to shorten piers and bring lifts closer to the shore less they get swallowed up by the rising water.

Nemo not smaller, just fun sized!
