It got hot this week. For those hoping for hot earlier this season, it was a welcome change. We entered the woods for the first time since maple syrup season to mine some firewood for next season. The stark difference between snowy, cold tapping season and mosquitoy, hot now is stunning. The woods were also wet.

The night before we did some lite logging, we got some rain. Almost an inch. We need more but any rain event close to an inch is good. The north end of the lake lost power for about 3 hours during the very early morning storm.

The lake has had a good run of flat water. We tried to ski it up as much as possible so as not to waste such a valuable natural resource.

Maybe it was the flat lake or maybe it was because of another week of practice, but the Wednesday ski show was pretty good.

The Town of Lincoln held an open house on Saturday. Since Lake Lucerne is in the Town of Lincoln we checked it out.

We were greeted with an expensive looking bronze plaque. Many of the important names were repeated in case you missed the first instance.

My guess is that the expensive looking leather chairs in the small meeting room are for the repeated bronze name people. There were 18 cheap seats for attending rabble (that'd be me and others).

A lightly attended reception was going on in the bigger room. There was much more rabble seating here and food too. You would think that such a nice and expensive place would have a companion web presence to inform the paying public of such upcoming events and such. Or even just post dump hours. But no. That might be changing soon. Foreshadowing; your guide to quality web literature.

Back at the lake, or rather under the lake, field testing of the underwater web cam housing was under way. The preliminary results were good. Live under the lake views coming soon. Thanks to aLf for the idea, camera and motivation to get this project off the ground. Or rather under the water.

The Nicolet Country Club course is in great shape but is getting a bit deery.

Summer! There was no doubt. Gone was the ambigious weather that could not make up its mind whether it was early Spring or late Fall. Here is the lake warming, rain bringing heat that most look forward to. The lake is about 70 degrees (°F). Swimming is still a little cool but do-able. Diving, both SCUBA and skin, is helping with the install of the underwater webcam. The camera is configured and ready to go. Final testing and evaluation of the waterproof housing should be another few days. The only real impediment to the big rollout is Summerfest. Four of our five senses have gathered the votes needed to take us back to Milwaukee to see, hear, smell and taste the world's largest music festival. The new camera will be added to the front page as soon as it goes live.<br><br><br>-Nemo, rabble in a wet suit.
