Memorial Day Week

May 21st through 27th, 2013

Lake Lucerne
Early in the week, rain was the order of the day(s).
Lake Lucerne
After the two or three day (depending on how you call it) rain event, the total was just short of an inch. The lake went up.
Lake Lucerne
Our last pier went underwater sometime on Wednesday but we are not exactly sure. Blogging is an imperfect science.

After the rain came some cold. Blankets used to cover premature gardening became frost covered by morning. Boo!
Lake Lucerne
Frost or not, if you don't get the boat in by Memorial Day you lose. The landing was crowded all weekend. The higher lake level was enjoyed by all.
Lake Lucerne
Sunsets, on days without rain, were great and getting late(r). It's still kind of light out at nine PM.
Lake Lucerne
The North end of the lake is in the low 60s°F. Cold, but not forget-about-it cold. The loons are back. Both the avian kind and the brave souls that strapped on the pine (fiberglass, carbon fiber, whatever) and skied up the less than flat Lake Lucerne. All in all, it still feels a bit cool for this time of year (Frost? Boo!). Warmer weather is forecast along with more than a little rain. The warm would be nice. The rain would be even better. Storms are needed to hold, and even build, on the gains the lake level has made since ice-out.
