Lawn Mowing Week
May 14th through 20th
Streams and creeks are still flowing, but at a much slower rate.  If we are to hold the gains in lake level, we need some rain.
Rocks are starting to slip under the rising waters of Lake Lucerne.  That rising water is cold too, 54℉ last Sunday.
A pair of eagles have been circling the north end of the lake all week.
Song birds are out and are, at times, louder than the spring peepers.  Some are also blue.
The white flowers are peaking and should dominate the forest floor for another week or so.
Large tracks of trillium are pretty much everywhere.
Lately, sunsets have been worth watching.  They have been warm with colorful clouds and more than a hint of quality garnish.
The last tasks (Spiles cleaned, cookers washed, meds (for backpain) lowered) of the 2013 maple syrup season were completed.
Lake Lucerne has gained another inch since last week.  The water is also starting to get warmer.  The estimate for next weekend would be 33 inches below the nail with a water temperature of 60 F.  If half of the rain predicted to hit the lake in the next few days actually does, the lake could be even higher.  Huzzah!  Lawns are also higher.  We had to mow twice last week to try to keep the grass down below the "hay field" look.  Great grass growing conditions have made the state of the golf course at NCC better than ever but it's getting more crowded.

-Nemo, stocking up on energy drinks and advil for the summer.
