Last Update for the "Summer"
September 14 through 20th   
Fall continues its relentless march.  Peak color looks to be a week or two away at Lake Lucerne.
Lake Lucerne has been angry for the past few days.  It was flatter by Thursday.
Have you seen the "Ice Castle" for sale at the sporting goods store on Hwy 8 coming into town?
The "I going ice fishing honey, be back in March." interior is amazing.  My first house wasn't this nice.
The weather around the lake has been interesting.  On Monday we had patches of blue sky.  And hail.  At the same time.
It wasn't giant, skull-denting hail, but it was bigger than seen here (it melted a bit) and still hurt.
No boats or eagles were harmed in the fall.  A pier may have suffered minor damage.  Unless your name is Craig, you're pier is fine.
On Wednesday, just after sundown, a storm with a huge gust front, lightning, thunder  and not much rain hit the lake.  The wind was too much for the white pine that eagles use in the northwest corner of the lake.
Return to Knottlane
The weather has been crummy since Monday.  Cool, windy and wet, but not wet enough to raise the lake level (less then an inch of rain & hail).  Any rain is good, but I was hoping for more.  Wolves were heard howling just north of the lake during campfires on the weekend.  It was speculated that they had suddenly become noisy trying to keep away the cold.  If so, silly wolves, vodka tonics work much better.  Even when paired with ancient, yet still supriseingly fresh limes.
