Footstock Weekend

August 17th through 19th, 2012

Lake Lucerne
Saturday morning was cool, sunny and the rain was half a day away.
Lake Lucerne
Auggg! More trees are turning traitor to Summer by showing alligence to Fall. The treacherous trees are currently vastly outnumbered, but the trend is disturbing to both skiers without a dry suit and golfers that don't swing so well bundled up.
Lake Lucerne
While taking an always delightful trip to the dump, we observed a new, near by construction.
Lake Lucerne
Not sure if this slab is the new townhall, a tennis court or some other thing. Whatever it is, it'll have a lovely view of several dumpsters.
Lake Lucerne
Footstock! Or, as it's become to be known as, Fleckstock!
Lake Lucerne
We got there late, just in time to see the ambulance taking one of the more broken competitors away. He lived.
Lake Lucerne
Aside from the cooler temperatures, the weather for the contest was excellent.
Lake Lucerne
It rained a spit Saturday evening. We need much more.
Lake Lucerne
Despite a cloudy sky, the Bailey's Comet was sighted Saturday night during one of the more populated bar nights of the year.
Lake Lucerne
Pete Fleck (Florida, Olympus) smote all the foolish mortals that challenged him. You would think that the foregone conclusional nature of Fleckstock would have made for a boring afternoon, but admission for both days was only three bucks and the smiting was quite entertaining.
Lake Lucerne
The lake was much quieter this weekend. So was the sky. We really need more rain to hold the gains we've made this year and maybe extend them. The lake temperature has dropped 72°F. Cool, but not freezing. Best get that final swim in soon.
