On Monday, in one of the more joyless events of the year, lifts were pulled from the increasingly cool waters and a parade of boats were removed from the lake at the public boat landing. I would estimate that less then 25% of the boats remained on the lake.

The ice-in contest will not be up until early October but it might be profitable to start thinking about it now. I've narrowed the date down to sometime between the Fall's elections and January but that's all the help I'll give. With some timely rain, the lake seems to be holding its own. With all the dysphoric (oh, a college boy eah?) excitement of lift pulling, the lake measurement was overlooked. Next time, we'll get it for sure.
