The First Wet Weekend in June

Next »

June 4th through 6th, 2010

Friday evening was foggy and wet. The bigger storms would arrive a little later. By Saturday morning the lake was 0.7 inches higher. Rain fell again later on Saturday and the lake gained an additional 0.4 inches by Sunday morning. I wouldn't expect the watershed to raise the lake further. The dry ground held onto the precipitation tighter than a barefooter to a tow rope. After 1.1 inches, the stream on the north end remains mostly dry. The lake area seems to be in a moist weather pattern. If this holds, it could be the bottom of the low lake levels and piers will have to be adjusted to make way for higher water. It's premature to hope for the drought to end after a 1.1 inch weekend, but more storms are predicted over the next several days and we're due for a wet summer.

-Nemo
