| Boat in Weekend May 23rd through 25th |

| It rained on Friday. The word rain here should be enclosed in quotes ("rained"). It was really just a thick mist that wetted the surface without raising the lake level. All the annoyance of rain without many of the benefits. | It's that time of year again. Time to put lifts back into what's left of the lake, extend piers to reach the lifts and visit the boat landing. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
| First, I was told to forget trying to get in at the public landing and instead try the landing at Water's Edge. Second, the Water's Edge landing is quite a bit steeper than the public landing which caused some issues with the back end of the boat floating before the front end was ready to come off. And third, there is a pile of rocks just about 2 inches higher that a lowered outboard motor 30 feet from the shore. Putting the motor up a bit solved this problem for now. The lake needs rain. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
| Connecting ski boats to trucks and pulling them to the landing is pretty much the same from year to year. What happens after arriving at the landing this year is unique in my experience. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

| I am hoping that last year's warm late spring followed by a cold, missing summer was an aberration and not a trend. Let's also hope that this spring's unseasonably warm air brings with it the atmospheric instability that can lead to massive amounts of rain. Preferably at night, hold the tornadoes but we'll take day time storms (hold the tornadoes) if that's all that's offered. -Nemo |
