4th of July Weekend

Next »

July 1st through 6th, 2008

The ski show, on Wednesday night in front of Water's Edge, was good. Despite rough water, most acts were pulled off without falling. Plants are at their peak. The hills are green and more are springing up by the hour. Eagles hunted the north end of the lake all weekend. They were observed only eating fish, but the count of some groups of ducklings is down. Evidence that they may be eating both fish and fowl. Strange, siding clinging toads were spotted in the early evening. The lake is clear and warming up. It's at about 68 F on the surface. Cooler as you get to the bottom. I'm still recovering from an epic bar night on Thursday. It started innocently enough, but grew more raucous with the introduction of dice based drinking games. Then came the flaming drinks.... Then cigars. A CD case featuring some long haired guy playing new-age music was found. Reading the insert, it was further discovered that he plays the recorder...professionally. At this news the crowd became enraged and demanded action. Someone noticed the dartboard... ouch. The nights are getting warmer. The waxing moon means that they will also be getting brighter next weekend. Please refrain from night skiing. Or playing the recorder professionally.

-Nemo
