Saturday morning was cold and bright. The lake was steaming as it rapidly cooled.
The steam froze as soon as it came into contact with anything on the shore.
The closer the object the thicker the coat of frost.
Even surviving spider webs had a thin coating of crystal.
The sun took a toll on the frost. By noon it was gone.
The blue skies reflected in the lake gave the crystal clear water an azure hue.
The webcam has been remarkably stable in the cold temperatures. I'm thinking of leaving it out all winter.
The northwoods annual "Running of the Icicles" has started. It should end some time in April.
It was the last weekend for water skiing. No one took up the challenge. We will be back to chop a hole in the shore and get the last swim of 2005 and the first of 2006 just before midnight on the December 31st.
