| We entered the cabin on the north end of Lake Lucerne after dark on Friday. The snow was starting and, after clearing some of the white stuff, we retired to the cabin to begin reinstalling the weather station and webcam. |
| The storm was over by Saturday morning. About a foot of the frosty crystals collected on all that was uncovered. |
| The storms were now south and east of the lake. |
| The surface of Lucerne is covered with snow dunes that are about 2 feet deep. The snow between the crests is half that. Two weeks ago the lake was covered with a uniform inch of powder. |
| The combination of snow and wind has produced some really cool drifts and dangerous wind chills. |
| "Breaking Trail" on the lake was especially bad when the snow would go over the top of the boot and join the sock inside. |
| Snowmobiles started to come out at 10:00 AM. We remained very still so as not to startle these otherwise nocturnal creatures as we snapped a few pictures. The pack of three that we observed frolicked around for half an hour before scampering to the south. |
| We had to leave at noon. The roads in forest county were great. You could see the pavement. After Forest county they were worse. This is Hwy 32 near Suring. Note the lack of a center line and no defined edge. Highway speeds were maintained only by the foolish or crazy. |
