The Last Full Weekend In July
July 23rd through 27th
Saturday, July 23rd, was filled with the type of weather that we dream about: Sunny, hot and calm.
At 9:30 AM (ish) the athletic highlight of the year for the lake took place.  The O'Keefe Triathlon went smoothly (No storms, major heart attacks or lost competitors that I am aware of).
The swim accross the lake, the first leg of the event, is only about a half mile if a straight course is followed.  Several of the athletes showed off their swimming skill/love of the water/poor navigation by deviating from a straight course and adding hundreds of extra feet to the water divide of the race.  The calm water lead to surprisingly few drownings this year.
During the running part of the race the knott lane speed limit was not violated nor was the speed reduced.  I lost interest shortly after this picture and did not get any of the biking leg of the race, sorry.  Some Joe guy won and all finished.
There has been a few big eagles fishing the north end of the lake all summer.
From the size of this brood of wood ducks it looks like the eagles are eating only fish.
We hearkened the siren song of work and reluctantly left late Tuesday.  We'll be back soon.
