The Last Winter Weekend

Next »

March 12th & 13th, 2004

Saturday morning was cold and growing more cloudy and windy. The forecast was for more snow but the blue in the sky had me thinking the prediction was wrong. The prediction turned out to be very correct. It took a while to drill a hole in the ice. At 28 inches, this is the thickest of the year. As we went back in to warm up the snow arrived. The webcam is now setup to watch ice-out. Software trouble on Saturday night will delay the picture updates till Thursday night when Mr EMT resets the system.. Mr EMT and Dad are going up Thursday to kickoff the maple syrup season. The sap shack will be firing 24/7 in about a week. Before we left, we hiked down the lane to get a better feel for the snow. It's been a few years since I remember this much snow. Just a little more and some cabins would be buried. There was not much visible change to the new construction. The wind started to gust harder and the snow picked up as we started to leave. We did manage to escape before we were engulfed in the while stuff. The roads on the way home were not in good shape (we saw several spinouts and one rollover).
