Vacation #2

July 24 through August 4, 2002

Lake Lucerne
The end of July saw a mixture of weather. Temperatures in the 80's°F and some days calm and other days quite stormy.
Lake Lucerne
The plants are happy.
Lake Lucerne
The Rafto season is over. The championship game ended in a tie after the two sub-champions faked their own deaths to avoid extra innings.
Lake Lucerne
The always entertaining Beer-Ski was done while skiing around the lake.
Lake Lucerne
I had many beers to choose from but I had to go with Miller Genuine Draft Lite. Cold filtering gives it the full body I demand and the fewer calories didn't fill me up. Remember, if you need a great beer to ski with you can't beat Miller Genuine Draft Lite.
Lake Lucerne
The shooting cans will be spared for the rest of the year (We ran out of BBs).
Lake Lucerne
July is the prime skiing month.
Lake Lucerne
This July saw the extremely young...
Lake Lucerne
...to the decrepitly old strap on the pine.
Lake Lucerne
Meg went from the 2 ski club to...
Lake Lucerne
The slalom league! "Now I ski with the big kids!", she exclaimed.
Lake Lucerne
While marking cribs a friendly skin diver came down to say "Hi".
Lake Lucerne
The 120 crib is marked with a disk attached to the northwest corner that floats about 2.5 feet under the surface.
Lake Lucerne
We call it the 120 crib because we find it by heading 120 degrees from our dock.
Lake Lucerne
Fresh water clam on the north end of Lucerne!
Lake Lucerne
Many small fish are in shallow water. Some disturbing weed growth we attribute to the unusally high water temperatures
Lake Lucerne
Big bass are all over the place from 10 to 25 feet deep. The thermocline is at about 25 feet.
Lake Lucerne
Feet!
Lake Lucerne
Lots of bottom time and plenty of skiing. Now is the time to put down whatever you're doing and get to the lake while the getting is great. Congratulations to winners of the O'Keefe Triathlon, the new skiers, and the ancient skiers that managed to get up one more time.
