During August the lake area saw rain, wind and fog but on the whole the weather continued the trend for this summer, warm and wonderful!.
On some nights the temperatures went into the high 40's F. Little skiing, swimming, and diving occur after sunset so this did not affect the pleasantness of August.
We did get our share of wind and wind means sailing! When the wind is 10 to 15 mph sailing is quite harmonious. We also sailed on a day with 25 mph winds (gusting to 40+ mph!) I don't remember too much of that outing. There was an abundance of rapidly moving water, screaming, praying and pain. Did you see the flying cow in the movie "Twister"? It was like that but without the cow.
There was a parasail on the south end of the lake all summer. I gotta get me one of those next year...
Mr Pinchie's Journal
Hi! My name is Mr Pinchie! My job was to crawl around, pinch people and eat dead stuff.
During the month of August I abruptly changed career paths...
Now I'm a butter delivery device.
The War Quarter Championship of the World was held in the newly renovated Miller Park II stadium.
The competition was fierce as 7 of the best/available/thristy players battled for the top prize in a single elimanation format. Jim was crowned the winner but in another way all who participated were losers.
After the clash, grudge matches and cage matches were played using exotic and unpleasant beverages.
Later still, a few double and triple A players showed that they might have the stuff to challenge the champ next year. No one left thirsty.
We SCUBA dove quite a bit on the north end of the lake and found a few things that may interest you.
Meg models the prescription glasses I found. If you lost a pair on the north shore in about 15 feet of water and your prescription is between "Coke Bottle" and "Blind" these may be yours. Contact me by the end of the year if you want them back or the Lions Club will get them. If you replaced them with stronger ones (say a white cane with a red tip) I'll understand.
Have you noticed a decrease in the speed/power of your boat? Before you take it out to get it tuned check the prop. If it's missing this could be the problem. Jim found this one on the north end.
