Vacation #1

The weather was fantastic. Hot and calm from morning to night. If it's possible for the weather to ever be too good this would be it. We were forced by the flawless climate to push ourselves to almost terminal fatigue resulting in dire injury. The rafto preseason is over and the the season promises to be full of pain and trauma.

The plants seem to be at their peak.

The spiders should be well fed given the mosquito numbers.

Jim decides to take advantage of some time off by trying to fly a hydroslide. Gravity ended up taking over. His back hurt long after the sun went down.

Meg has mastered 2 skis but was broken while trying to slalom.

There are few things as enjoyable as hydro sliding on a lake that's smooth as glass.

The only thing that comes to mind is skiing on a lake that's smooth as glass.

The fish are out in force! These fish were in about 12 feet of water above a crib on the north shore of the lake. The thermocline is at about 14 feet and is at 55°F.

Crappie, a species we never saw 10 years ago, are growing in both numbers and size.

The bass are getting very active as are the walleye.

This monster was almost 20 inches long and very friendly. I played with it for a few minutes till it and I grew bored.

Along the northwest shore in 15 to 20 feet of water are a number of cribs that hold lots of fish and a few lures.

In 14 feet of water on the northwest shore lies a very old boat that may be a big row boat or a small steamer from the 1900's. The boat is wood and there are some metal parts on the stern.
