Warming up to Summer

June 2nd through 10th, 2000

Lake Lucerne
The weather this week was wonderful. It was warm and sunny with only one day of hail. The water temperature started at 62°F and went up to 70°F by the time we had to leave.

We got the good spot on the island on Wabikon! The big rock (left side of this image) is still there and it's best to bring your own firewood. The island has been pretty much picked clean of all downed burnables. At about 3:30 AM, a large herd of drunken teens almost invaded our camp, but ended up crashing on another site to the North.

The new car hole has 2 saw horses and few new roof trusses.

While standing on Knott Lane, roofers tried to persuade us that flinging sheets of OSB up to the roof was going to be the next big trend in extreme sports. They failed to convince us.

By the end of the week, we had sort of trained local eagle food to beg for peanuts.

The fish are on the cribs and all but jumping into the boat.

We only SCUBA dove once. After marking a crib, Mrs Nemo's power infiltrator malfunctioned, causing her to do a fantastic impression of a girl shaped alka-seltzer tablet. We'll get that fixed by next weekend. The lake is still six inches down despite getting heavy rain and almost an inch of hail on Thursday.
