The Weekend before Memorial Day

Next »

May 19th through 23rd, 2000

The trillium are up and pretty much taking over the forest floor. It's warmer and greener then the last time we were here. The new car hole has new cement walls. It's populated with cement wall forms and our truck. The fire tower at Sugarbush Hill was climbed before noon to get a better picture of the greening of the northwoods. The northwoods are pleasantly green. Our first eagle sighting of the year was a good one. The big bird circled the north end of the lake for several minutes. Some were understandably tetchy about the whole eagle circling thing. The lake is down six inches from last year, but it rained a lot this weekend. The water is crystal clear and 62°F. We only swam once and blued up nicely. We SCUBA dove twice. Both dives were described as pleasant and about 15 feet deep. The fish are still not on the cribs, but they should be soon. This time of year is like driving a VW microbus and having the stoner/surfer dude next to you shout, "Let's make this the best Summer ever!". That's the plan anyway.

-Nemo un-blued a day or two later
