July 18th through 25th, 1970

"We made it!" The view from the back seat was green and cow-filled for much of the ride up. The back seat is really a hot vinyl bench. We were strapped to the hot by "Dad, it's too tight" lap belts for over 5+ hours by the time our bulging eyes focused on Lake Lucerne. Timber Shores, cabin number two, Crandon, Wisconsin is our mailing address for the next 7 days. In all my 7 years, I've never seen a cleaner, colder body of water. In addition to the lake, the resort has a pop shop, bumper pool, pinball machines, a puck bowling machine that doesn't ever get old, and a raft of many injuries. And there's fish. My six year old brother got the biggest one. One week is not enough. Seven days is not a sufficient amount of time to do all the swimming, Rafto, fishing, lodge activities, fire tower climbing, and hiking that should be done. There will be a lobbying effort from the back seat to have our hopefully annual visit to Lake Lucerne extended. There will also be a lobbying effort for a car with air conditioning.

-Little Nemo needs a better camera.
